With a degree in Fashion Design and Product Design from the Milan Polytechnic, Elena Salmistraro founded her architecture and design studio in 2009. Author of a highly recognizable stylistic trait, she works between illustration, design and visual arts, with the intention of defining an energetic communicative code that stimulates emotion and sensitivity.

Her creations are characterized by an attention to the detail and a harmonious research of shapes, inspired by anthropomorphism and primitivism, on the borderline between fantasy and reality. She works as a designer and artist/illustrator for most renowned companies in the sector. Her projects have been selected for the most important exhibitions in Italy and abroad and have been exhibited at the most important national fairs and international. Numerous awards, including the Salone del Mobile Milano Award as “Best New Designer” (2017), the Good Design Awards with the Chimera project for Cedit-Ceramiche d’Italia (2020), the ADI Ceramics & Bathroom Design Award with the Spire washbasin for Ceramica Flaminia.

In 2017 she was named Ambassador of Italian Design in the world.
